Gua sha is based on the use of a tool that stimulates the surface of the skin through a pressing-and-gliding motion, easing muscle pain by activating the microcirculation.
The benefits of gua sha are numerous: it can bring relief from tension, soreness and discomfort, support digestive and respiratory wellbeing, and release the areas where, to the touch, the presence of sha can be felt: congestion, stiffness, pain.
Gua sha also exists for the face, but I do not practise it: here the work is on the body.
